My adventure into the world of art began in my early 30’s when my third child started nursery school. The encouragement of my professional artist mother, Anne, played a large role in my exploration of painting, from the study of detailed photo realism to the limitless possibilities of abstraction.
While raising a busy family I attended weekly classes under the guidance and tutoring of renowned artists such as Steve Shooter, Pascale Chandler and Robin Townsend. My favourite teacher and critic however remains my mother Anne Cleveland.
I find creative inspiration is intimately entwined with my outdoorsy African upbringing and close relationship to nature.
My work encompasses the textures of the diverse South African landscapes, the magnificent luminosity of the hues captured in layered application of oil paints. I desire to express the light, the feel and the essence of a subject matter from seascapes of The Wild Coast, the majestic Drakensberg mountains, or the diverse flora and fauna of our gorgeous bushveld!
Gather a group of friends or colleagues and I will guide you on a journey of self-discovery by encouraging you to express yourself freely through abstract painting. Hosted at Infinity in the Midlands or at your chosen destination my creative circle workshops are unforgettable day or overnight experiences.
Themed events such as birthday celebrations, book-clubs or corporate team building make for ideal occasions for a creative circle getaway.
